WEST EXPANSION
Globetrotters® was a partner in the design/build and commissioning team for the $950 million McCormick Place West. The 2.8 million square foot expansion of the McCormick Place convention center is one of the largest public buildings in the United States to receive LEED certified green building status. Globetrotters® provided electrical, fire protection, and plumbing engineering design and value engineering; construction management; and commissioning services. Globetrotters® also provided project management services for all non-architectural disciplines including mechanical/electrical/plumbing, security, voice/data, landscaping, food services, LEED design, and QA/QC. The integration of this new building into an existing campus required the review of the existing fire protection, fire alarm, heating/cooling, electrical, sewer, water and building automation infrastructure.
SOUTH EXPANSION
Globetrotters® provided infrastructure engineering services for 1.2 million square feet of the McCormick Place South expansion. Work included extensive relocation and construction of streets, parking lots, express-way ramps, and water and sewer infrastructure plus structural design for the galleria.
