New Bucktown-Wicker Park Branch Library

Globetrotters provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design services for this new, full-service library that replaces two storefront branches, Damen and West Town. The new library is more than three times the size of both existing branches combined, and is a LEED™ certified building.

The project achieved 27 points for LEED for New Construction in the following areas:

Sustainable Sites: Site Selection, Alternative Transportation, Stormwater Management, Landscape & Exterior to reduce heat islands effect (roof and non-roof).

Energy: Optimize Energy Performance, Additional Commissioning, Measurement and Verification, and Green Power.

Materials and Resources: Construction Waste Management, Recycled Content, and Local/Regional Materials.

Indoor Environmental Quality: CO2 Monitoring, Construction IAQ Management Plan, Low-Emitting Materials (adhesives & sealants, paints, carpet, wood & agrifiber), Thermal Comfort, and Daylight & Views.
