Plumbing Riser Replacement & Restroom Remodeling for University of Chicago Lecture Halls

Chicago, Illinois

Globetrotters provided architectural and engineering design services, construction administration, and commissioning services for Cobb Lecture Hall, Gates-Blake Hall, and Eckhart Hall at the University of Chicago to replace the original interior water distribution infrastructures and upgrade the existing restrooms to comply with Chicago Building Code and ADA requirements. These buildings are of historical significance which our design efforts respected.

Work included removing and replacing domestic water piping and the water heater, remodeling existing restrooms, and providing new single-user restrooms, including new plumbing fixtures, finishes, accessories, lighting and entry doors.

As part of the project Globetrotters negotiated with the City of Chicago to reduce the impact of code compliance on the existing facilities, and collaborated with the University ADA Consultant and appropriate staff to identify locations for accessible single user restrooms in these buildings.
