Globetrotters had a series of task order contracts with Metra for the design and construction administration of station and parking facilities. These services included over 20 sites with improvements ranging from new stations and parking lots to ADA renovations.
The parking facility projects were designed with asphalt paving, paint stripping, storm sewer, concrete curbing, signage, lighting, a fee collection system, sidewalks, landscaping and ADA access to the depot building from the parking lot. Projects included:
Roselle Station – Milwaukee District West Line: Design services for a new $1.7 million Metra station that replaced a 30 year-old station. Globetrotters replaced the platform and other elements to make the station and site totally ADA compliant, and provided site revisions to enhanced the traffic flow.
Ft. Sheridan Station – Union Pacific North Line: Design services to upgrade and expand the existing station and parking lot, which included ADA accessibility for the building, platforms, and parking lot.
Evanston Main Street Station – Union Pacific North Line: Detailed assessment of building systems and façade, and design services to inspect and restore the 100 year-old historically significant structure to its original condition and to rehabilitate the surrounding area. The entire structure was converted to accommodate mixed use as a community center and small theatre.
Olympia Fields Parking Lot: Construction management for a 300-car parking facility adjacent to the Metra Commuter Station. The $2 million project included asphalt parking lot with sub-base and associated flatwork, sewer installation, retention pond construction and lighting.
New Lenox and Orland Park Park-and-Ride Lots: Construction management services for expanding the New Lenox parking lot capacity by 519 spaces, and the Orland Park parking lot capacity by 799 spaces.
