Globetrotters provided mechanical and plumbing engineering design services for Design/Build improvements to several Blue Line stations. The $25.6 million project included exterior envelope restoration, platform structure and decking restoration, and utility services upgrades. Customer facing improvements included interior station finishes, platform canopies, signage and wayfinding, fare control equipment and communication system upgrades, public art installation, lighting upgrades, and entrance sidewalk replacement.
Work also involved ADA upgrades to platforms, communications, customer assistance kiosks, and restrooms as well as curb cuts adjacent to the stations.
These stations are historically significant, and coordination was required with local and state historic preservation agencies to ensure the design retained identified historic elements at each station.
